Terms of Use
The agreement between you and Theo. Short, and in plain words.
1What Theo is
Theo offers a daily reading, books to read and listen to, and the tools to keep your place in them. It is a reading application, not advice — nothing in it is medical, psychological, legal or financial guidance, and it is not a substitute for a professional.
2Your account
One account per person, with an address you can actually receive mail at. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your password to yourself.
You can close the account whenever you like, from Settings, without asking us. We may close an account that is used to break these terms, and we will say why.
3What is free, and what is not
- Five daily readings are free for the lifetime of your account. Opening the same one twice counts once.
- Premium unlocks the rest, in every language we have, for reading and listening.
- Books are bought one at a time and stay yours.
Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your own currency, including any tax.
4Subscriptions, cancelling and refunds
A Premium subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. Cancelling is done in your Apple or Google account, not here — we have no way to cancel it for you, and deleting your Theo account does not cancel it either.
Payment is taken by Apple or Google. We never see your card. Refunds are theirs to give, under their own rules, and asking us cannot speed that up.
If you are a consumer in the EU you have a fourteen-day right of withdrawal for digital content, which you waive at the moment you start using it — the stores ask you to confirm this when you buy.
5The writing and the pictures
Theo’s texts, recordings and images belong to us. You may read, listen and quote a passage with attribution. You may not republish them, sell them, feed them to a machine-learning system, or hand your access to somebody else.
6When something goes wrong
We try to keep Theo available and correct, and we do not promise it will never be down or never be wrong. Where the law allows us to limit our liability we do, and where it does not — injury, gross negligence, intent, or the German Product Liability Act — we do not.
German law applies. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the law where you live.
